JULIE HUNT-JUNEAU, RYT 500
Yoga saved me from the physical and mental stresses of a desk job. After training with the Yoga School of Covington, I became an instructor in 2012 to share the benefits of Yoga with others, and to introduce Yoga to those who felt it was beyond their capabilities.
In 2016, I trained with Balance Yoga & Wellness to become a Yoga Alliance registered yoga instructor (RYT 200).
Soon thereafter I was certified by the Veterans Yoga Project to teach Yoga for PTSD, and participated under a contract with the VA to provide this valuable Yoga instruction to Veterans. In 2017, I enrolled in Yoga Therapy training. In 2021, I completed training in Yoga Trapeze (Aerial), Gravity Yoga, and Breathing Coach to earn certification from Yoga Teachers College. In 2024, I completed training with Cathy Madeo Yoga in the 300-Hour Program to become an RYT 500.
Yoga Practice Themes:
- Slow movements with the breath are more beneficial (see Tortoise & Hare fable).
- Yoga can be practiced in everyday movements of life.
- It’s not what the pose looks like – it’s what each pose feels like.
- Pretzel poses are not required. Advancement can be attained with more practice time and/or strength drills.
- Each class begins with 5-10 minutes of conscious breathing and ends with 10-15 minutes of relaxation.
